Education transforms lives and brings hope to an otherwise dying community.

Mother Mary Children of Ghana Aid Foundation (MMCGAF) is a Private Voluntary Organization (PVO) which reaches out to children in Africa in the town of Somanya and the four communities of Tamatoku, Kajanya, Toje and Tehey of the Dangme East district of Ghana West Africa to support the education of:

  • Children of needy families
  • Orphaned children
  • Abandoned children

through the provision of tuition money, school supplies, medicines, food, clothing, foot wear and other items and infrastructure that children need in order to attend school and benefit from good quality education.

Most of the people in each community in the Dangme East District of Ghana are peasant farmers who also wean salt for sale. Extreme tropical conditions such as drought, decreased rainfall and famine negatively impact children in these communities whose families lack the funds needed to keep the children in school. Your generous donations are needed to keep these children in school and provide the needed support.

MMCGAF’s vision is of a district or country in which every child is educated, protected, respected and valued, and who has developed commitment to work in the community to help turn the tide of poverty.

Our Mission

MMCGAF fights poverty and illiteracy in Ghana, West Africa and beyond by making education accessible to all children including health screening opportunities especially for needy and deprived communities. Ensuring that no child drops out or discontinues his/her education and empowering them to better their lot and substantially reduce ignorance, poverty and disease.

Our Goal

In the next 10 years, MMCGAF would improve the lives of the people in the four communities in the Dangbe east district of Ghana West Africa by ensuring that a majority of eligible children of school age have benefited from good quality education.

Some Challenges

Most of the children:

  • Are orphaned or live in single parent homes
  • Have various disability challenges and lack required care for their educational needs
  • Walk distances of 3 to 4 miles from neighboring villages to school often on empty stomachs
  • Often wait to return home from school to eat the only meal of their day
  • Lack basic school supplies, educational toys, sports equipment, basic hygiene and other personal items
